Mahashivaratri-The darkest night of the
year
This is a celebration of the grace of Shiva (Adi Guru or the first
Guru) from whom the yoga tradition originated.
Significance:
Of all the twelve Shivaratris that occur in a calendar year,
Mahashivaratri has the highest spiritual significance in February -
March.
The position of the planets on Shivaratri is such that there is a
powerful natural uplift of energy in the human system. On this
night, the northern hemisphere of the planet is collected in such a
way that there is a natural refraction of energy in humans. It is a
day when nature is pushing someone towards the spiritual peak.
To use this occasion in Indian culture, a festival has been
established which takes place at night, it is called Maha
Shivaratri. One of the main principles of this nightlong festival is
to ensure that you stay awake all night with your spine. So that we
can take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. Waking up all
night for the physical and spiritual well-being of a person on
Mahashivaratri is very beneficial. Therefore, awakening is
important. Keep the spine straight. And you can feel the flow of
energy
